UPDATED - 7/26, 9:50 a.m. -  Late last night, the Texas Department of Transportation along with law enforcement were able open most of the  lanes of traffic at the site of the 18-wheeler accident, however...

The inside northbound lane of Loop 287 near US 69 South in Lufkin will be closed most of today while a hazmat team continues cleanup following an 18-wheeler accident that occurred last night.  Masters Advance Remediation Services, in Huffman, Texas will work inside the closure as TxDOT officials monitor traffic through the lane closure for about the next four hours. Motorists should be prepared for delays or choose an alternate route.

A single-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler has both northbound lanes and one southbound lane of Loop 287 at Denman Avenue shutdown.

According to a release from the Lufkin Police Department, Northbound traffic is being diverted from Loop 287 to the Denman Avenue feeder and then back onto the loop. No injuries have been reported.

TxDOT is expected on the scene by 8:30 and they will likely need to shut down both southbound and northbound lanes of traffic.  It is unknown at this time how long the accident will take to clear. There is diesel on the highway. It will be a lengthy clean up, according to officers on the scene. Avoid the area if at all possible and expect delays.
