Congratulations are in order for five students from Lufkin High School who have earned the honor of the National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP), known for identifying academically outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students.

Each year, the NHRP honors about 5,000 of the highest-scoring students from over 250,000 Hispanic/Latino juniors who take the PSAT/NMSQT. To be eligible for the NHRP the student must take the PSAT/NMSQT in October of their junior year in high school, be of at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino descent, achieve the minimum required PSAT/NMSQT cutoff score and achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher by the end of their junior year.
