According to a release from the Lufkin Police Department, a 50-year-old man was arrested after assaulting his 73-year-old mother.

Jay Ebarb went to his parent's home Monday to visit his father, but when he arrived his mother said she could tell he was on some type of drug so she told him to leave. He then began throwing her around the yard and biting her on the arms. His brother attempted to intervene and Ebarb swung a knife at him.

Ebarb ran into a wooded area nearby when he heard police sirens approaching. Officers found him hiding in the woods and placed him under arrest. Ebarb was on the phone with 911 dispatchers at the time and had given them a fake name, stating he was going to the home at 408 Renfro. He had the knife on him still at the time of his arrest.

His mother had large bite marks, bruises and swelling on both of her arms. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
