Lufkin Mutton Bustin' Brings Big Points and One Crazy Ride

4 nights of mutton bustin' at the Angelina Benefit Rodeo provided some wild entertainment for the big crowds at this year's event.

Young cowboys and cowgirls from across East Texas tried their hand at staying steady on the back of a sheep as it raced, or sometimes just moseyed, down the arena floor. One ride in particular showed just how competitive these youngsters can be. Caden Rowe, an 8-year-old cowboy from Central, was the last rider on Thursday night. Jackson Havard had already hung up a 96 point ride with his nearly coast to coast ride through the Expo Center, so Rowe knew he had to hang on tight...and that's exactly what he did, and did, and did.

Even when the sheep fell on top of him early in the ride, Rowe was not about to give up. Not many cowboys can say they have spurred (no spurs were used, of course) a sheep while lying flat on their back, but Caden did just that.
