Wednesday, just after midnight, a Lufkin store owner stopped a burglary in progress by taking matters into his own hands...literally. 

According to a report from the Lufkin Police Department, Julious Griffin, 17, was arrested on a charge of burglary of a building after a store owner caught him in his store in the 100 block of North First Street and held him in a head lock until officers arrived. Another person with Griffin at the time ran past the store owner and was not caught.

Wednesday morning around 3:30, Roderick Hale, 39, was arrested after he attempted to pry open the bay door of Ross Motorsports with a broom handle. He had a crack pipe in his possession at the time of his arrest.

And finally, a man reported being robbed at gunpoint for a pair of $240 Jordan Retro 6 shoes he was trying to sell to a man in the South Timberland Family Dollar parking lot. He said he was contacted on Facebook by the man who said he wanted to buy the shoes and asked to meet at that location.

He said he showed the suspect one of the shoes and when he went to get the other one, the suspect pulled out a small, silver pistol, chambered a round and stuck it to the man's hip. He said he told the suspect just to take the shoes and that they weren't worth dying for to which the suspect said "OK, I'm going to take her (expletive)." He said the suspect then ran around the back side of Family Dollar, He described the suspect as a black male, around 5'9, wearing a black hoodie, black and gray camo gym shorts and black and blue shoes. The stolen shoes were a pair of size 11, white and maroon Jordan Retro 6 shoes with a small, white paint pen mark on the front toe of the right shoe.
