Luke Bryan‘s new video for ‘I Don’t Want This Night to End’ is more like a mini movie than just another music video. The music even stops mid-video in favor of some dialogue, and the action ends with a “to be continued” cliffhanger.

The video for this contemplative semi-ballad follows the singer sometimes shunning his usual baseball cap and his fun, upbeat demeanor in favor of the leading man role. We see the serious and “actorly” side of Luke Bryan. Who knew he had it in him? He’s quite the likable protagonist.

There are scenes of the singer recording the song in the studio spliced with footage of him embroiled in poker hot, passion fueled brand-new romance. He is hanging around a fire and meets a redhead who rocks his world to its core. They literally enact the chorus at first. She’s a hot girl with her hands up, rocking in his truck with the wind and her hands raking through her flame-hued locks. He’s driving in the dark of night with an ear-to-ear grin — clearly a man who is smitten.

She then hops in and sits next to him to nuzzle and cuddle. Next, he carries her across a big puddle in the road. They fall in, splash and smooch. The video highlights the type of blossoming, reckless romance which consumes you — you become so immersed in it that nothing else matters.

They play hoops in an abandoned barn until the music stops and the dialogue starts. Bryan prods her, saying, “I want to know where you are from” as they cuddle and clasp hands. She is cagey and refuses to answer, intimating that where she is from is not where she wants to be, nor is it as important as where she is at and that’s with him. He invites her to a show, promising to leave a ticket for her. She wants to focus on the here and now, and it’s all very romantic.

The ginger gal leaves in the middle of the night, and then the action cuts to Bryan, who is wrapping the song in the studio. He tells one of his associates that he’s ready to get back on the road and is “fired up” about his new tunes and album. He then asks his colleague for a favor. He says, “I need you to leave me a ticket for somebody,” and “to be continued” flashes on the screen.

The romance is not over for Luke Bryan just because the ‘I Don’t Want This Night to End’ video ends.
