Luke Bryan played a strong game of Catchphrase on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night (March 2). In fact he and Fallon were winning, right up to the very end.

The phrase "Off the Record" tripped up Bryan, and during the third round, an all-or-nothing bonanza, he was stuck holding the buzzer. His unlikely opponents were actors John Lithgow and Octavia Spencer. That duo lost each of the first two rounds, stumbling on phrases like "Nailed It" and "Double Dip."

If you've never played, the game works as follows: Contestants pass a timer as they try to get their partner to say a word or phrase. The beeping slowly escalates, adding to the drama. Watch the video above, and you'll catch on pretty quick.

Bryan has been busy in recent weeks. He delivered the National Anthem at the Super Bowl and released a music video for his new single "Fast." He's also slated to be on Blake Shelton's team during this season of The Voice. All the while, he's wrapping the Kill the Lights Tour and thinking about beginning the Huntin' and Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day Tour in May. Needless to say, Luke Bryan tickets are going to be a hot commodity in 2017. He'll headline WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minn., in August.
