Mel McDaniel Dead At 68 After Long Battle With Cancer

Sad  news to report today as Grand 'Ol Opry member and legendary artist Mel McDaniel passed away yesterday after an extended battle with cancer.

McDaniel was born in 1942 in Checotah, Oklahoma...the same town that produced Carrie Underwood.

Up until the past couple of years, McDaniel was very popular at venues across the East Texas area, however, his declining health caused him to stop performing.
