One of the most endearing and talented entertainers ever in the history of country music is coming to East Texas.  Mel Tillis will be performing Saturday, August 31st at the Lufkin Middle School Auditorium. 

He has been honored as  the Country Music Association's "Entertainer of the Year" and "Comedian of the Year" and is one of the music industry's most-prolific songwriters.
Among his compositions are; "Ruby, Don't Take Your Love To Town" (Kenny Rogers), "Detroit City," (Bobby Bare), "Burning Memories," (Ray Price) and "Honey, Won't You Open That Door," (Ricky Skaggs).  He's also had numerous hit recordings of his own, including; "Coca Cola Cowboy," "I've Got The Hoss," "Send Me Down To Tucson" and many more.
The Lufkin Middle School (Formerly Lufkin High School) is located at 800 E. Denman Avenue. Tickets are available at Baskins Department Stores in Lufkin and Nacogdoches.
