Congratulations are in order for Harold Whitaker of Nacogdoches ISD’s Mike Moses Middle School He was recently recognized as the 2015 Assistant Principal of the Year for Education Service Center (ESC) Region VII. 
According to a release from the Nacogdoches Independent School Distrist, the recognition comes from the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP). TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals every year for each ESC region.

Mr. Whitaker graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in 2009. He then entered the classroom in 2010 as a substitute teacher.

“I desired to continue building my career with the district after observing teachers and administrators being so passionate about students,” said Whitaker.

In 2011 he was hired to teach history in the district.  Then, in 2014 he aspired to work in administration and completed his Masters in Educational Leadership from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX.

Whitaker has served the Mike Moses campus for the past three years as an assistant principal. As assistant principal, he serves many roles on campus whether it is being an instructional coach for faculty members, a mentor for the students or an advocate for public education. Mr. Whitaker is seen on every end of campus several times a day, and he makes it goal to interact with his students and visit the classrooms.
