Miranda Scores Big at the ACM’s This Day in Country Music – April 3rd (Video)

1968 – Roy Clark makes the first of several guest appearances on “The Beverly Hillbillies,” playing Cousin Roy and Mother Myrtle.

 

1950 – Bass player Curtis Stone is born in North Hollywood, California. The son of music figure Cliffie Stone, he joins Highway 101, which earns the Country Music Association’s vocal group awards in 1988 and 1989.

 

1942 – Billy Joe Royal is born in Valdosta, Georgia. Best-known for his pop hits “Down In The Boondocks” and “Cherry Hill Park,” he crafts a half-dozen Top 10 country singles from 1985-1990, including “Tell It Like It Is” and “Love Has No Right”.

 

1928 – Singer-songwriter Don Gibson is born in Shelby, North Carolina. He writes and records several classic hits–including “Sweet Dreams,” “I Can’t Stop Loving You” and “Oh Lonesome Me”–earning a 2001 induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
