Nacogdoches Deputies Arrest Two Fugitives After High-Speed Chase

Deputies with the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office were involved in a high-speed pursuit on November 8 which resulted in the arrests of two wanted individuals.

Christopher Dewayne Harvey, 48, of Lufkin, was booked into the Nacogdoches County jail on a first-degree felony for the manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance; a third-degree felony for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle; and a Class-A misdemeanor for evading arrest. He was also served with an outstanding third-degree felony warrant for possession of a controlled substance.

A deputy on patrol at the intersection of FM 225 and CR 703 spotted Harvey’s silver 2006 Honda traveling south on FM 225 and observed an expired registration and non-functioning brake light. The driver, later positively identified as Harvey, failed to stop.

Reaching speeds of more than 100 mph, NCSO deputies pursued Harvey west onto State Highway 7, before turning onto CR 615, which is a dead-end road. Harvey exited the vehicle and fled into the woods.

Stephanie Alene Wade, 32, had been in the vehicle with Harvey and was found to have an outstanding state jail felony warrant for theft of property from Angelina County. She was taken into custody and released to Angelina County deputies. Drug paraphernalia was also recovered from Harvey’s vehicle.

Deputies searched the woods on foot and patrolled the surrounding roads looking for Harvey. A traffic stop was initiated on a black passenger vehicle with two occupants in the 2000 block of CR 620, near where Harvey had last been seen. The driver consented to a search of the vehicle, and Harvey was found hiding in the trunk, where a package of suspected methamphetamine weighing more than 4 ounces was also recovered.

Additional charges are possible, and the investigation in this case is ongoing.
