NASA recently spoke of a few safety warnings about viewing the upcoming total eclipse on their official website. Click here to read the full list of warnings.

The total solar eclipse will occur on August 21st, and 14 states will be able to see the event, as long as they adhere to NASA's warnings.

Apparently, some people have bought what they believed were visors/glasses that worked as solar filters, but didn't actually do anything to protect the wearer.

NASA is concerned that people be aware of this issue, and only obtain special purpose solar filter lenses through reputable sources.

Folks in Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, and South Carolina will have visibility of the eclipse for about 2 minutes on August 21st.

If you're a native of East Texas, and planning on taking a trip to see the totality in all its awe inspiring glory, then this information applies to you too.
