There's another new face coming to Nashville for its upcoming fifth season.

According to Sounds Like Nashville, the show's new network home, CMT, has put out a casting call for a new character named Clay, a 21-to-26-year-old African American male who wants to become a big player in Music City.

“He is a creative, self-aware, highly motivated young man who suffers intense mood swings, but is nonetheless charming and outgoing," the network describes the character. "His musical style is eclectic, with modern elements but also nods to roots black music, bluegrass, and even classic country.”

Carolina Chocolate Drops founder Rhiannon Giddens is also joining the show for Season 5 in a recurring role as Hanna Lee "Hallie" Jordan, a social worker who is discovered to have “the voice of an angel.”

Nashville stars Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere have been confirmed to return for Season 5, along with Charles Esten, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Clare Bowen, Lennon Stella, Maisy Stella and Chris Carmack. Will Chase and Aubrey Peeples will not be series regulars moving forward, as previously reported.

Nashville will make its debut on CMT on Jan. 5, as part of a new deal producers struck to continue the series after ABC abruptly canceled the country music drama. As part of the new deal, Hulu will air new episodes beginning the day after they air on CMT.
