Nacogdoches ISD is excited to announce Dr. Michael J. O'Guin, Sr. as our new Nacogdoches High School Principal upon board approval on June 29, 2016 at a Special Board Meeting.

Nacogdoches ISD interviewed multiple candidates and O’Guin was the top candidate of the hiring committee. “The committee was impressed with [O’Guin’s] commitment to student success through building relationships with parents and community,” said committee member and Nacogdoches High School English Department Chair Cristin Thomas.

“Dr. O’Guin’s experience will be a valuable asset to our district leadership team,” Igor Gusyakov, Nacogdoches High School Teacher. “ We have high hopes for him as our campus leader.”

Dr. O’Guin began his career in education in Fort Bend ISD as a High School Social Studies Teacher from August 2000 through May 2008. From May 2008 through June 2010, Dr. O’Guin was the Director of Athletics – Head Football Coach – for Van Vleck ISD. In August 2010, Dr. O’Guin became a High School Social Studies Teacher at Galveston ISD until July 2011. He returned to Fort Bend ISD in August 2011 for two years as the High School Social Studies Teacher. In August 2013, Dr. O’Guin became an Instructional Specialist at Cypress Fairbanks ISD and was promoted to Assistant Principal of Cypress Creek High School in December 2013.

Dr. O’Guin holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Sam Houston State University, a master’s degree (MEd) and a doctoral degree (Ed. D) from Texas Southern University.
Dr. O’Guin will begin his duty as Nacogdoches High School Principal early July of this year.
