The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will have a number of crews out and about the Deep East Texas Region this week as they continue to work on projects in the area.  Some of those project include:

  • The US 84 bridge that connects Texas and Louisiana at the Sabine River in Shelby County. The eastbound bridge deck has been completed and the bridge railing is being constructed. Pavement is also being placed on the Louisiana side of the bridge. James Construction Group, contractors for the $9.4 million project are set to finish the bridge in late 2016, weather permitting.
  • In San Augustine County, the newly constructed four-way traffic signal and intersection reconstruction at SH 21/US 96 will likely be completed in the coming weeks. Drewery Construction Inc., contractor for the project, will work to complete final pavement surfacing and the four-way traffic signal will be implemented. The $2.3 million project began in March.
  • A new project is set to begin in Houston County on SH 21 for 7.3 miles between Austonio and Crockett. A.L. Helmcamp, Inc., contractor for the project, has started setting barriers and placing equipment at the construction site with work scheduled to begin in coming days. The $11.8 million project will be located from FM 1280 to 2.3 miles east of FM 2967. Reconstruction of the roadway with the addition of passing lanes is scheduled to be completed in about 22 months, weather permitting.

 Other work planned throughout the district in the coming week includes:

ANGELINA COUNTY

  • FM 2021/US 59: Contractors will continue to work on the subgrade and storm drainage along the southbound US 59 ramp.
  • US 59/SL 287: Contractors will continue to set panels and permanent concrete barriers on the north side of the project along with beginning U-turn bridges adjacent to the Business 59 existing bridges.
  • SL 287: Subgrade treatments on the eastbound frontage road near the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge.
  • Various locations: Maintenance crews will continue to fill pot holes, rehabilitate driveways and clean ditches of debris.

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY

  • SH 21: Contractors are moving toward completion after laying the hot mix surface on the project that will widen the roadway from FM 226 to FM 3276.
  • SL 224/US 59 North: Mill and Inlay with roadway rehabilitation.
  • SL224/US 59 South: Contractors will work to complete the retaining wall on the US 59 South exit ramp and pavement structures on the westbound entry ramp.
  • SL 224: Contractors will continue to work on guard rail and culverts at various locations.

SHELBY COUNTY

  • Loop 500: Contractors will continue clean-up on the newly opened extension from US 96 to SH 7.
  • FM 139: Safety treating fixed objects along roadway including work on driveways, cross drainage structures and guardrail.
  • FM 1970: Maintenance crews will work to repair base failures.
  • FM 2468: Seal coat treatments.

SABINE COUNTY

  • FM 1: Contractors work toward completion and clean-up after installation of a flashing beacon at the railroad underpass.
  • FM 1592, FM 2261 and FM 3184: Safety treating fixed objects in various locations, including driveways and bridge rail.

SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY

  • SH 21: Sealing and repairing roadway failures.
  • FM 354, FM 3409, FM 3230, FM 3153 and SP 85: Fog sealing.

POLK COUNTY

  • US 59: Striping is set to begin with alternating lane closures throughout the project.
  • US 59: Seal coating in northbound lanes south of Livingston and planing operations southbound from Leggett to Milton Creek.
  • US 287: Contractors are setting barricades that will have contractors widening the roadway and the addition of left and right turning lanes.
  • Hubert Cemetery Road: Contractors will clear right-of-way for a bridge replacement at Dickens Branch.

SAN JACINTO COUNTY

  • US 59: Crews will continue to haul embankment at the overpass at FM 2914.
  • FM 945 North: Maintenance crews will work on leveling pavement.
  • Various locations: Vegetation control.

HOUSTON COUNTY

  • SH 7 East: Safety treating fixed objects along roadway.
  • US 287 South: Safety treating fixed objects along roadway.
  • FM 3151: Ditch rehabilitation.
  • FM 2967: Ditch rehabilitation.

TRINITY COUNTY

  • SH 19: Blading surfaces and applying hot mix from Lovelady to the Trinity County line.
  • SH 94: Safety treat fixed objects.
  • FM 3453: Seal coat treatments.
  • FM 357: Seal coat treatments.
