Randy Travis Getting His Voice Back, Father Reports

It’s been nearly six months since Randy Travis suffered a stroke due to congestive heart failure, which was then followed by a string of complications. Although it’s been a long road to recovery — and it’s still not over — the legendary singer is anxious to get back to work, according to his father.

Fans have been awaiting the latest updates on the singer, and bits and pieces of good news have been surfacing. Travis was recently pictured in some photos that offered a first glimpse of the singer since the stroke, and he appeared to be alert and happy while sitting in a wheelchair, surrounded by loved ones.

Now, Travis’ father, Harold Traywick, is speaking out, telling Closer, “He’s getting his voice back now, little by little.”

That’s wonderful news for country fans, as the country crooner’s voice is undeniably one of the most well-loved in the industry.

In addition, an unnamed insider says that Travis has started playing his guitar again and is “anxious to get back to work and connect with his fans.” The source also reports that “Randy’s doctors are extremely pleased with his progress,” and the singer will “do whatever it takes to regain everything [he] lost.”

Travis dropped a new album on Oct. 1, 2013.

Ideally, the positive reports will prove to be correct. Travis’ pal Billy Ray Cyrus has confirmed that the icon is doing great — although he still needs the prayers of country music fans. Singer Bonnie Paul noted that Travis was able to speak to her on the phone.

The ‘Forever and Ever, Amen’ hitmaker has legions of fans who are rooting for him, and hopefully he can feel their thoughts and prayers as he continues on this path to good health.
