Regional Tournaments Set for East Texas Teams
There were a number of tight and tough playoff basketball games played Tuesday night. But after the last buzzer sounded, several East Texas teams punched their ticket for area regional tournaments.
The Central Heights Blue Devils have nothing to be ashamed about as they stood toe-to-toe with the 2nd-ranked Tatum Eagles. Two free throws with 14 seconds to play were the difference as Tatum took a 56-54 victory.
The Tenaha Tigers looked to be coasting to an easy victory as they built up a lead of over 20 points in the 3rd period, however Dallardsville Big Sandy put together a 36 point 4th quarter which pulled them to within 3 of the Tigers, however, a desperation 3 at the buzzer didn't connect and Tenaha survived to move on to the next round.
The Wolves of San Augustine had their hands full against the Alto Yellowjackets. However, the 10th ranked Wolves outlasted Alto 72-65.
