One Louisiana-raised country singer pays tribute to another in this cover of a classic hit. Jacob Davis chose Tim McGraw's "Where the Green Grass Grows" as his 2017 Taste of Country RISERS cover, and for good reason.

This acoustic version of the hit song shows those new to Davis' music what fans love about his live show — he never stops moving! His funky knees don't quit during a nearly three-minute-long cover of the 1998 hit from McGraw's Everywhere album.

The Shreveport native admits local music and culture had a huge influence on his character and music. Initially, he didn't intend to chase country music — he was working on an oil rig after college, but hated it. His parents urged him to stick it out for one more year.

“They wanted me to learn how to pay my bills and get up and be at work on time,” Davis says. “I guess I was 22 or 23 and I needed that. I’m very glad that they made me stick with it.”

With a mother who led church on piano and a father who was a skilled songwriter, this LSU grad didn't have to go far to hear good music. Now in Nashville full-time and working toward his debut on Black River Entertainment, he's building his fan base and proving that his talent goes deeper than his original music, into interpretation of other artists.
