You are invited to come out and celebrate the 51st anniversary of a timeless Lufkin tradition – the lighting of Rudolph the Red Nosed Pumping Unit on Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Lufkin Mall.

The holiday event will begin around 4:30 p.m. and culminate around 5:30 p.m. with a countdown and lighting of Rudolph.  The United States World Series Little League Champions - the Thundering 13 - and their coaches will push the button to officially light Rudolph and set him in motion.

“We are proud this tradition continues to grow and bring joy to our community,” said Phillip Jones, Oilfield Plant Manager.  “It is special every year for our employees to kick off the holiday season with their friends and neighbors.”

Santa Claus will make a special appearance during the event and take time to greet children.

During the event, Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE) employees will give away red Rudolph antlers and children can enjoy cookies and milk, while supplies last.

The Lufkin Community Band will provide holiday music and the AC Chorale and Friends will sing Christmas carols.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Pumping Unit is a fully functioning Mark 640 oil pumping unit that precedes a 38-foot dump trailer that holds Santa and presents.

The pumping unit is painted red and adorned with more than 1,000 Christmas lights – and this year is a return to traditional Christmas lights, which are expected to make Rudolph and his red nose shine even brighter.

The Trailer is a 38-foot frameless Ultra Light II Dump Trailer decorated to resemble Santa’s sleigh. This equipment has become a symbol of the company’s dedication to the community and its holiday spirit.

Rudolph and Santa’s sleigh are symbols of BHGE’s dedication and commitment to the Lufkin/Angelina County community. The company and employees are proud to continue this great tradition.

Rudolph will shine brightly from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily through the holiday season.
