A cold front and vigorous upper level storm system is bringing severe weather across the Pineywoods this morning, this includes tornadoes.  We'll keep you up to date with an ongoing timeline of watches and warnings.  A tornado watch is in effect across all of East Texas through mid-morning. 

  • 6:36 AM - A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for southeastern Nacogdoches, eastern Angelina, Sabine, and San Augustine counties until 9:30 AM.  Up to 2 inches of rain has fallen across the area and another inch or two is possible in some areas.  Minor flooding has been reported in the cities of Nacogdoches and Lufkin.
  • 6:20 AM - TxDOT officials are reporting numerous trees across roads in Houston, Angelina, Nacogdoches (FM 343 and FM 226), and Polk and San Jacinto (Loop 424, SH 150, FM 222, SH 156, FM 3460, FM 2693, US 190, FM 2025) Counties.
  • 6:15 AM - A tornado warning has been issued for eastern Jasper and southwestern Newton counties until 6:30 AM.  Radar indicated a possible tornado near Buna and moving east at 50 MPH.
  • 5:53 AM - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 6:45 this morning for eastern Tyler, Jasper, and Newton counties.  Quarter size hail and winds gusting to 60 mph can be expected in areas such as Jasper, Newton, Kirbyville, Call, and Town Bluff.
  • 5:43 AM - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 6:45 this morning for southeastern Nacogdoches, eastern Angelina, Sabine, and San Augustine counties.  At 5:43 this morning, radar indicated severe storms from near Woden to Etoile to 10 miles southwest of Macune and Ebenezer.  These storms are moving east at 35 mph.  Hail and winds gusting to 60 mph can be expected in areas including Milam, San Augustine, Hemphill, Pineland, Rosevine, Woden, Etoile, Zavalla, Chireno, Broaddus, Sexton, and Bronson.
  • 5:24 AM - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 5:45 for Northeastern Polk county.  At 5:24, radar indicated a severe storm capable of producing winds in excess of 60 MPH.  This storm was located just southeast of Diboll to just north of the Alabama-Coushatta Reservation.  It was moving east at 75 MPH.  Corrigan and Moscow are in the path of this severe storm.
  • 5:18 AM - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued until 6 AM for Southeastern Rusk, Nacogdoches, Shelby, East Central Cherokee, North Central Angelina, Northwestern Sabine, and Northern San Augustine counties.  Radar indicated a solid line of severe thunderstorms located from near Sacul to Douglass to Woden to Lufkin.  All activity is moving east at 50 MPH.  Wind gusts of 60 MPH and quarter sized hail can be expected.  Locations impacted include Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Garrison, San Augustine, Tenaha, Timpson, Woden, Melrose, Center, Appleby, Mount Enterprise, and Cushing
  • 5:16 AM - A tornado warning has been issued for Southern Tyler county until 5:45 this morning.  At 5:15, radar indicated a possible tornado about 8 miles east of Goodrich and moving east at 60 mph.  Locations impacted include Woodville, Warren, Fred, Spurger and Hillister.
  • 5:02 AM - A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 5:45 for southeastern Nacogdoches, Angelina, and Southwestern San Augustine Counties until 5:45.  At 5:01, radar indicated a severe storm capable of producing wind gusts of 60 MPH and quarter sized hail.  This storm is moving east at 35 MPH.  Locations impacted include Lufkin, Diboll, Hudson, Huntington, Etoile, Zavalla, Broaddus, and Homer.
  • 4:59 AM - A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 6 AM for Tyler and Northeastern Jasper Counties.  At 4:58, radar indicated a line of severe storms capable of producing quarter sized hail and winds in excess of 60 mph.  These storms were located from near Lufkin to near Seven Oaks to near Kingwood.  The storm is moving East at 35 mph.  Locations impacted include Jasper, Woodville, Colmesneil, Chester, Fred, Warren and Spurger.
  • 4:52 AM - A tornado warning for Southeastern Polk county is in effect until 5:15.  At 4:52, a storm capable of producing a tornado as well as damaging straight line winds were located near Coldspring and moving East at 65 MPH.  Locations impacted include Shepherd, Coldspring, Goodrich, Alabama-Coushatta Reservation, and Southern West Livingston.
  • 4:50 AM - Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southern Rusk, Nacogdoches, and Central Cherokee counties until 5:30AM.  At 4:49 severe storms were located along a line from near Rusk to near Sacul to near Douglass and moving East at 35 MPH.  Wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter sized hail can be expected.
  • 4:49 AM - A Flash Flood Warning was been issued until 6:45 AM for Northwestern Nacogdoches, Cherokee County, and Northwestern Angelina Counties.  Thunderstorms with very heavy rain are moving across the warning area.  Some locations that could experience flooding include Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Jacksonville, Rusk, Diboll, Hudson, Huntington, Alto, Wells, Trawick, Pollok, Maydelle, Douglass and Burke.
  • 4:40 AM - Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northern Polk, East Central Houston, and Trinity counties until 5:15.  A line of thunderstorms capable of producing winds in excess of 70 mph was located near Pollok and extends to near Riverside.  Locations in the path of the storm include Apple Springs, Trinity, Onalaska, Corrigan, Groveton, Riverside, Seven Oaks, Sebastopol, Moscow, Leggett and Centralia.
  • 4:36 AM - A Tornado warning has been issued until 5:15 for Southwestern Polk and South Central Trinity County.  At 4:35 a storm capable of producing a tornado was located over Southeastern Huntsville.  This storm is moving East at 65 mph.  Locations impacted include Huntsville, Livingston, Onalaska, Coldspring, Point Blank, Riverside, Goodrich, and West Livingston.
  • 4:33 AM - Severe Thunderstorm Warning for East Central Houston and Northeastern Trinity counties until 5 this morning.  At 4:32, radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter sized hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 MPH.  This storm was located 8 miles southwest of Wells and moving East at 30 mph.
  • 4:32 AM - Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Central Nacogdoches, Southeastern Cherokee, Northwestern Angelina County until 5:15 this morning.  Severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Alto to near Forest to 7 miles northeast of Kennard, moving East at 40 MPH.  60 MPH wind gusts and quarter sized hail can be expected.  Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Hudson, Huntington, Alto, Wells, Pollok, Woden, Forest, Douglass, Morrill, Appleby, Oak Ridge, Central, Linwood, and Redland are in the path of this storm.
  • 4:27 AM - Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southern Polk County until 5:45.  A long line capable of producing hail and straight line winds gusting up to 80 mph will be approaching Onalaska, Shepherd, and Livingston. These storms are moving eastward at 65 mph.
  • 4:17 AM - Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northeastern Houston County.  At 4:16, radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail.  This storm was 8 miles southwest of Morrill, or 18 south of Rusk and moving east at 45 mph.  Weches is in the direct path of this storm.  This is a supercell thunderstorm and could produce a tornado
  • 4:10 AM - Tornado Warning issued for North Central Cherokee County until 4:45.  A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Mixon or 7 miles East of Jacksonville and moving southeast at 5 mph. Towns in the path of this storm include New Summerfield and Gallatin.
