After several days of wonderful weather, it looks like Deep East Texas could be in for some severe weather Monday night and Tuesday morning.

The Storm Prediction Center in Oklahoma has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for a large area of north, north-central, and northeastern Texas.  The only counties in the Pineywoods affected by this watch are Houston and Cherokee.  However, a 70% chance of showers and storms are possible overnight in Lufkin/Nacogdoches and some of those may be severe.  Hail and damaging straight line winds will be the biggest dangers from these storms.

Some of these storms could also dump from 2-6 inches of rain across the same area that is outlined by the severe thunderstorm watch, so, a Flash Flood Watch is also in effect for Houston and Trinity counties until Tuesday morning.
