A late season cold front is pushing across the Lone Star State Friday night and bringing with it severe weather watches and warnings.  Hail, heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and isolated tornadoes are possible across parts of East Texas.

Once the cold front passes, much cooler weather is expected for Saturday with a high only reaching the upper 50s.

Here are the latest watches/warnings affecting the Pineywoods:

  • A Severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 5 a.m. for Tyler, Jasper, and Newton counties.
  • A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 12:45 a.m. for northern Jasper and northwestern Tyler counties.
  • A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 12:45 a.m. for southeastern Nacogdoches,  Angelina, southern San Augustine, and Sabine counties.
