Some exciting news for Lumberjacks fans - A member of the 2011-2012 Stephen F. Austin baseball team has signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Rays!

Senior relief pitcher Alex Moshier, originally from Nederland, TX, signed a deal last week with the Major League Team and left Texas yesterday to start training with the team's coaching staff.

He took to Twitter to record his 988 mile journey to Port Charlotte, FL:

Moshier, who had to undergo Tommy John surgery back in 2010, was 6-0 this season with nine saves and a 2.19 ERA, the second-lowest ERA in a single season in the history of SFA baseball according to the statistics.

He follows four of his former teammates to the MLB - Bryson Myles and Chase Weir were selected in the 2011 Draft, while Jason and Jared West signed free agent deals.

We wish him the best of luck!
