A Shreveport Police officer was shot and killed Wednesday night on Midway Avenue in the Caddo Heights section of the city as she was preparing to go in for her shift.  At a press conference held Thursday morning, Shreveport Chief of Police Ben Raymond confirmed that Chateri Payne, 22, was shot multiple times and succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.

Not many details of the investigation or possible suspect(s) were given during the press conference, but Chief Raymond did pass along that Payne was a well-respected officer who had graduated from the police academy this past November.  Chief Raymond along with the Mayor of Shreveport, Adrian Perkins, asked for prayers for Payne's family, friends, and co-workers.  Plus, they reassured the citizens of Shreveport that they would work diligently to find the person(s) responsible and bring them to justice.
