Steve Wariner Welcomed Into The Grand Ole Opry This Day In Country Music – May 11th (Video)

Singer, Songwriter and amazing guitarist Steve Wariner received one of the greatest honors of his career on this day in 1996.  ”Some Fools Never Learn”, one of our favorites here at Kicks 105.

2010 – Jason Aldean, Taylor Swift, Lady Antebellum and Carrie Underwood earn three nominations apiece in the CMT Music Awards.

 

2006 – Toby Keith’s “A Little Too Late” video debuts on CMT.

 

2005 – Ronnie Milsap and Los Lonely Boys combine talents in Franklin, Tennessee, during a taping of “CMT Crossroads”.

 

2004 – Epic releases Gretchen Wilson’s debut album, “Here For The Party”.

 

1997 – Trace Adkins marries Rhonda Forlaw at Nashville’s Belle Meade Mansion in front of 800 people. Adkins sings a song he wrote for his bride: “The Rest Of Mine”.

 

1996 – Steve Wariner joins the Grand Ole Opry.

1993 – Brooks & Dunn claim three honors during the NBC telecast of the 28th annual Academy Of Country Music from Los Angeles’ Universal Amphitheatre: Top Vocal Duet, Single Record of the Year (“Boot Scootin’ Boogie”) and Album of the Year (“Brand New Man”).

 

1991 – George Strait’s “If I Know Me” stops at #1 on the Billboard country chart.

 

1968 – Bass player Keith West born in Huntsville, Alabama. He joins Heartland, providing background vocals on the band’s 2006 single “I Loved Her First”.

 

1955 – Alabama drummer Mark Herndon born in Springfield, Massachusetts. He joins the Hall of Fame band in 1979, just prior to its launch into country’s mainstream. Herndon is a live fixture with the group, though he rarely plays on its recordings.
