T.G. Sheppard Hospitalized

Country music legend T.G. Sheppard has spent a lot of time on the road this year, but unfortunately, he’s laid up for the time being. After performing at the Reunion of Professional Entertainers (R.O.P.E.) awards on Thursday night (Oct. 11), the ‘Devil in the Bottle’ hitmaker was admitted to the hospital over the weekend.

According to Country Weekly, Sheppard is suffering from a bladder infection. “He was admitted in ICU with a bladder infection that has caused extreme high heart rate. He is very weak and they are trying to keep his heart rate down, but it has been a challenge,” the singer’s wife, Kelly Lang, said in a statement made on Facebook. “Thank you for keeping us in your prayers. Love, Kelly.”

Sheppard, 68, had a phenomenal career run in the 1970s and 80s. Thanks to hits like ‘Devil in a Bottle’ and ‘Slow Burn,’ the country music legend racked up 14 No. 1 singles during his career high.

The country star is slated to play several shows over the next few months, including a campaign event gig for none other than presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

“I am thrilled at the opportunity to perform for Gov. Romney,” Sheppard told the Florida newspaper the North Santa Rosa. “I have met Mitt on several occasions, and whole-heartedly support him as the next President of the United States of America.”

There’s no word yet on whether Sheppard will still be able to make the event, in light of his recent hospitalization. Right now, all that matter is the country singer’s health. Our thoughts are with Sheppard and his family as he makes his recovery.
