Get ready sheep...here come the mutton busters. 48 young cowboys and cowgirls will be hanging on for points (and dear life) for the chance to be crowned the nightly championship rider at the Angelina Benefit Rodeo.
The Angelina Benefit Rodeo is coming up April 20th through 23rd at the George H Henderson, Jr. Expo Center in Lufkin. In addition to the best cowboys and cowgirls competing for cash, 48 youngsters will get the chance to claim their few minutes of fame.
Night number two of the Angelina Benefit Rodeo produced some more outstanding rides in the KICKS 105/Cavenders Mutton Bustin' Championships. There were a total of 3 80+ point rides and the same number of 90+ point rides.
Two 90 point rides highlighted night number one of the Mutton Bustin' Championships Wednesday night at the Angelina Benefit Rodeo, but when the dust settled and the fleece cleared, 7 year old Emma Heckendorn of Hudson took home the trophy with a ride of 91 points.
The Angelina Benefit Rodeo gets underway this Wednesday and continues through Saturday at the George H Henderson, Jr. Expo Center in Lufkin. One of the highlights each night is the mutton bustin' championships.
Last week's Angelina Benefit Rodeo brought us four entertaining nights of mutton bustin'. Area youngsters between the ages of 5-9 tried their hands, arms, and anything else they could use to hold on to the runaway sheep.
