Will we be seeing more pictures like this Tuesday? Winter weather appears to be a certainty across the Pineywoods as a strong Arctic blast is moving across East Texas today bringing strong winds and colder temperatures.  Then, the precipitation will start early Tuesday morning.

The last time the 'Polar Vortex' moved through East Texas we got the extreme cold, but thankfully no precipitation.  Looks like we're not going to get quite so lucky this time, especially for areas south of Lufkin and Nacogdoches.

We're a week away from Thanksgiving, and the good news is that the extended forecast is calling for a sunny, cool turkey day.  However, we will have a cold push of air between now and then, plus the chance of up to 3 inches of rain falling in the region over the week.

An Arctic cold front should be blasting through the Pineywoods around mid-day today bringing with it frigid temperatures and gusty winds.  In fact, a freeze warning is effect for most of the area tonight and a lake wind advisory is posted throughout the day.
