George Strait hasn’t been writing and releasing music since he was born, but if he had, and he had one No.1 hit every year of his life, he would be right where he is now. The 59-year-old country king is celebrating his astounding 59th No. 1 hit with ‘Love’s Gonna Make It Alright’ from his September 2011 Grammy-nominated record, ‘Here for a Good Time.’
This weekend, George Strait walked onstage at his Kansas City, Mo. show to meet 18,000 fans eagerly awaiting his performance. The country music veteran stepped up to the mic with his guitar and went through the motions of starting a show, just like he knows so well how to do. But after two songs, the seasoned talent had to cut the show short, admitting he was too sick to continue.
Yesterday (Feb. 22), George Strait made a guest appearance at the Universal Music Group label luncheon show at Nashville’s Country Radio Seminar, which was held at the Ryman Auditorium. Though King George wasn’t listed as an act for the event, he came out as the first performer and stunned a crowd that quickly cheered, stood and clapped to show their approval. The audience primarily consisted of radio station personnel, all of whom were surprised by Strait’s presence.
