Sigourney Weaver Says There’s a ‘Very Good Reason’ for Four ‘Avatar’ Sequels

I like Avatar. Quite a bit, actually. On occasion, I have been known to defend the film, at length, on this very website. I would drop everything to hang out at Disney’s Pandora theme park if I could. (Stupid job, stupid beloved child.) But even I struggle to justify four Avatar sequels, which is supposedly the number of new films in James Cameron’s epic sci-fi series that will be coming in the years ahead.

‘Pandora – The World of Avatar’ Takes Riding the Movies to a New Level

By sheer chance, last week I spent five days at Disney World with my son’s high school choir, at the same time that Animal Kingdom officially opened its new “Pandora - The World of Avatar” area. Our group was slated to go to Animal Kingdom on Memorial Day, and I was eager to see how Disney had turned James Cameron’s 2009 prog-rock/science-fiction/eco-propaganda experiment into a real-world habitat. So on the morning before our designated day, I opened up the “My Disney Experience” app on my phone to check out the wait times. About forty minutes after the park opened, the line for the “Na’vi River Journey” ride was already three hours long. And the wait for “Avatar Flight of Passage?” Four hours.

James Cameron’s ‘Terminator 2’ 3D Re-Release Will Hit Theaters in August

In a piece of news bound to make you say, “Wait, is this still a thing?”, it looks like we’ll still be getting that Terminator 2 3D conversion after all. Scroll back through our archives and you’ll find our very first mention of the Terminator 2 re-release in December of 2015. Back then, word was that James Cameron and company would time the theatrical re-release of the film to its 25th anniversary on July 3. For one reason or another, though, the studio missed that window, and thousands of people around the world were only able to relive their love of the Terminator franchise in the same boring two dimensions they’d always had. Sad.

Now That He Finished the Script for ‘Avatar 5’ James Cameron Can Begin Shooting ‘Avatar 2’

Why is it that James Cameron’s updates about progress on his colossal plotted Avatar franchise always kind of sound like threats?

In a brash nose-thumbing to the concept of economic bubbles, James Cameron went all in on his Avatar franchise gambit and decided to produce the next four films in the planned pentalogy concurrently...

‘Terminator 2’ Is Finally Getting That 3D Release … in 2017

James Cameron has been toying around with a Terminator 2: Judgement Day 3D release for some time-- last year he announced that he was working on it, and that it would arrive in theaters around the time of the film’s 25th anniversary. Seeing as that deadline’s come and gone, it looked like a remaster was not to be. Fortunately, according to Collider, Cameron is still working on it, as announced on the Terminator 2 official Facebook page yesterday with a cool new poster:

Another day, another Hollywood lawsuit.

TMZ reports that director James Cameron, his production company, and 20th Century Fox are being sued for stealing the idea for the hit movie ‘Avatar,’ the number one film of all-time. A screenwriter claims that Cameron stole the idea from two different screenplays he wrote and wants $2.5 billion.

‘Titanic 3-D’ Sailing Into Theaters April 6, 2012

If the original 'Titanic' wasn't epic enough already, Paramount announced Thursday that it will re-release the Oscar-winning drama on April 6, 2012 ... in 3-D.

In a statement, the film's director, James Cameron, said, "There's a whole generation that's never seen 'Titanic' as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen. With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike."
