Hard to believe it has already been another year, but my next door neighbor is telling anyone who will listen about the big one that got away last year.

Over 100 teams entered this year's 19th annual Dr. Bill Shelton Totally Awesome Fishing Adventure on Lake Sam Rayburn. Most of the anglers said the fishing was tough, some having issues with even getting the maximum number of 5 fish for the weigh in.
However, Jerry and Lynda Crain of Lufkin had no such trouble.
The biggest amateur fishing event in the nation is less than two weeks away.
The KICKS/McDonalds Big Bass Splash presented by Sealy Outdoors is coming up April 20th-22nd at Lake Sam Rayburn.
In the 9 o'clock hour of day number one of the KICKS/McDonald's Big Bass Splash, Robert Laird of Livingston brought in a bass that tip the scales at 10.74 pounds.
Over the course of the next 2 1/2 days, Laird would had to fish and fret as to whether his catch would hold up as the tops of the tournament. Several anglers got close, but in the end, Robert Laird is the champion of the 27th annual Big Bass Splash.
