Lance Cpl. Guillermo S. Perez was pronounced dead following an accident involving an amphibious assault vehicle off the coast of California late last week.

Every year, folks from across the area step up in big fashion to help kids in our area by donating new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots drive.
The main two day blitz is going thru Saturday, December 10th at the Walmart Supercenter parking lot in Lufkin. Toys for all ages are needed, but specifically for kids above the age of 10.

I had never heard of this island and it's significance, but this video is a beautiful and heart-wrenching example of respect, reverence, and never leaving a soldier behind.
