The worst Summer drought in Texas history continues to linger on. Not only can we not get hardly a drop of rain from any of 14 named storms so far, last week Tropical Storm Lee gave us gusty North winds that have led to the worst wildfire outbreak in our history. Numerous wildfires continue to burn out of control across Central and Northeast Texas this morning, and unfortunately, the weather is only going to make it worse with winds gusting to near 30mph and no mention of rain.

Two major fires continue to burn across parts of East Texas - one in Jasper County and the larger fire which is located in Northern Polk/Southern Trinity Counties. Firefighters, members of the Texas Forest Service, and numerous volunteers were able to get the upper hand this weekend on many wildfires across our state, however, Mother Nature has another dose of dry, windy weather set for Tuesday. Although some rains have fallen across parts of the state and more is expected in parts of East and Northeast Texas through Tuesday, Texas remains a tinderbox.  Read
