2010 - Big Machine releases Taylor Swift's album "Speak Now".

2008 - Craig Morgan becomes a member of the Grand Ole Opry, performing "Rose Colored Glasses" and "International Harvester." Kristy Lee Cook makes her Opry debut the same night.

2007 - Hank Williams Jr. is honored in a "CMT Giants" concert shot at Los Angeles' Gibson Amphitheatre. Guests include Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Toby Keith, Steven Tyler, Gretchen Wilson, Buddy Guy and Terry Bradshaw.

2005 - The Toby Keith singles "American Soldier" and "As Good As I Once Was" are certified gold.

2003 - CMT premieres Clint Black's "Spend My Time" video and Brooks & Dunn's "You Can't Take The Honky Tonk Out Of The Girl".

2003 - Gary Allan takes the top spot in Billboard with "Tough Little Boys".

1997 - Tim McGraw's "Everywhere" travels to #1 in Billboard.

1984 - Alabama becomes the first country group to go triple-platinum, with the "Feels So Right" and "Mountain Music" albums each certified for shipment of three million copies. The albums "Roll On" and "The Closer You Get" also go double-platinum.

1970 - Chely Wright born in Kansas City, Missouri. She wins the Academy of Country Music's top new female award in 1995. Fifteen years later, she becomes the genre's first openly gay artist.

1958 - Mark Miller, of Sawyer Brown, born in Dayton, Ohio. He becomes the lead singer for the group which begins earning hits after winning "Star Search" in 1984. They win the Country Music Association's vocal group of the year award in 1997.

1912 - "Howdeee! I'm just so proud to be here!" Sarah Colley born in Centerville, Tennessee. The leading lady of country comedy, she spends 50 years on the Grand Ole Opry and becomes a regular on "Hee Haw," entering the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1975.
