An assistant coach on the sidelines was knocked over when a play went out of bounds during a game Friday night, and he had to be airlifted to the hospital with skull fractures. Here's what happened.

Scurry-Rosser High School is in North Texas, about 30 miles south of Dallas, and Scurry's game Friday night was called in the fourth quarter after assistant coach March Bachtel was critically injured.

We often see tackles end up out of bounds, and sometimes players accidentally hit other players, coaches, or camera men.  In Friday's night's game the play crashed into Bachtel, it knocked him off of his feet, and he hit is head on the ground so hard it resulted in severe head trauma.  FoxNews says Bachtel was airlifted to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas in critical condition.

Bachtel is an 8th grade history teacher in addition to football coach.  Click HERE to see the WFAA video.
