If you've got a court case pending - anything from a name change, to an adoption, to a divorce proceeding - your lawyer will likely be e-filing it.

Texas has the largest electronic court system in the country now.

Courts in counties that have at least 50,000 residents had to start e-filing in mid-September, and the Texas Supreme Court said Wednesday that civil courts in counties with at least 20,000 people will have to start e-filing by January.

There will be 4 million e-transactions in Texas courts this year, which adds up to a whole lotta paper not being used.  The new system should save 30 million pieces of paper each year, and it's finished 9 months ahead of schedule.
