A big rain event is coming to a large swath of Texas beginning today (Thursday) and continuing through Monday.  A trough of low pressure will usher in a cool front which will act to squeeze a lot of much-needed rain across the Lone Star State.

Hurricane Patricia which is skirting the western coast of Mexico is expected to provide huge amounts of moisture across Texas.  In fact, the latest NOAA model shows portions of central Texas getting anywhere from 5 to 11 inches of rain through the weekend. Closer to home, East Texas can expect widespread rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches, with isolated higher amounts especially across the Ark-La-Tex region.

Even with the large amounts of rain expected, meteorologists are not expecting any major flooding issues in our area due to the very dry conditions.
