I’ve got an almost 10-month-old baby at home, so I can say with absolute authority: The Boss Baby is a documentary.

Okay, so maybe the part about the baby talking is untrue. And wearing a suit all the time is probably somewhat fiction (although I have dressed my baby like Supergirl, so maybe not if you’re a really formal parent). But all the stuff about the baby taking over your house, changing your life forever, and utterly controlling everything that a family does: That’s all the real deal. (In a related story, I had to turn my car around and come home yesterday when the baby had a full-on meltdown on the way to Babies “R” Us).

Here’s the official synopsis:

DreamWorks Animation and the director of Madagascar invite you to meet a most unusual baby. He wears a suit, speaks with the voice and wit of Alec Baldwin, and stars in the animated comedy, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby. The Boss Baby is a hilariously universal story about how a new baby's arrival impacts a family, told from the point of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator, a wildly imaginative 7 year old named Tim. With a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby is an authentic and broadly appealing original comedy for all ages.

I’m not sure I can see this movie. It might hit a little too close to home. You see this trailer and you think fun family comedy for all ages. I see it and I think gritty horror movie that will give me flashbacks to sleepless nights and assembling cribs. The Boss Baby opens in theaters on March 31, 2017.
