🏈Garrison Faces Timpson in Battle of the Attoyac 2.0

🏈Terrible Forecast Causes Schedule/Site Changes

🏈SFA Will Now Host the Playoff Game

Only eight teams remain in the quest to bring home the Texas UIL State Football Championship in Class 2A - Division 1. Two of those teams are from the same East Texas district and they will be squaring off in the next round of the playoffs.

The Battle of the Attoyac is a showdown that features two teams separated by only eight miles. The Attoyac River separates the two towns and is the county dividing line with Garrison in Nacogdoches County and Timpson in Shelby County.

Earlier this season, the Timpson Bears hosted the Garrison Bulldogs in the yearly match-up and the state's top-ranked team defeated the Bulldogs 35-26.

Both teams have been perfect through three rounds of playoff games, and now they will face each other again in what's being promoted as Battle of the Attoyac 2.0. This time the game will be played at a neutral site, but, thanks to a nasty forecast, the original neutral site and time have been changed.

The game was supposed to be played Thursday night at Lobo Stadium in Longview. However, as of this posting, there is an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms for that game. Both schools agreed that moving the game to Friday would be best, however, that same stadium is already booked to host the Kilgore/Chapel Hill game on Friday.

So, now the game will be moved to SFA's Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches on Friday with a 7 p.m. kickoff. Pre-sale tickets are available through both schools, and, if available, tickets for $10 will be sold at the gate.
