July 4th is right around the corner, and we want to know what your plans are!

If you're like me, you're going to be looking for fireworks. I love the stereotypical 4th of July that's complete with all the fire and loud noises. I'm definitely a big fan of the annual firework show at the Ellen Trout Zoo, and will probably find myself in that area again this year.

But, it's not all about the fireworks. I'm also a huge fan of finding the BBQ pit and all the goodness that goes along with that. Brisket, sausage, chicken, you name it! It just seems to go perfectly with the 4th of July.

And, who can forget the homemade ice cream? In my family, we always made ice cream for the 4th. I don't know who started the trend in our family, but I'm sure glad that they did! And don't worry, if you don't have the means to make your own ice cream, there is NO shame, whatsoever, in getting a tub of Blue Bell. I mean, after all, one of the flavors is HOMEMADE vanilla. It's even got homemade in the name!

One more thing that we've done several times in the past is watch the 1996 movie, "Independence Day". Yes, I know that the aliens are a bit far-fetched, but there's so many good one-liners in that movie that make you go, 'Murica. Don't believe me? Go watch the movie and tell me that it doesn't get your red, white and blue patriotic feelings moving. Think it's possible? It's not.

So there you have it. That's what a typical 4th of July looks like for me. What are your plans for this Independence Day? Let us know in the comments below.
