Remember the big burn ban we had last year?

Well, let’s thank mother nature for sending us lots of rain and for making the weather cooperate this summer so we can have amazing fireworks displays in Lufkin and Nacogdoches on Fourth of July!

Lufkin

The annual Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza will take place at Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin on Wednesday, July 4th, thanks to the City of Lufkin and Mike Love and Associates LLC.

Between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., Loop 287 (between Highway 59 North and 69 North in Lufkin) will be closed – no vehicles will be allowed on that road.

Handicap parking will be available at the Expo Center parking lot starting at 5:00 p.m., where shuttle buses (including handicapped-accessible buses) will be available from Lufkin High School to Ellen Trout Zoo. The shuttles will also take passengers back to LHS after the fireworks show.

The fireworks display is one of the biggest shows in the sky in all of east Texas, with awesome synchronized music from K-FOX 95.5! The fun will start around 1:00 p.m. and the fireworks show will start around 9:15 p.m. Stay tuned for more information regarding performances, games and other activities planned for that day at the zoo!

Nacogdoches

If you’re in Nacogdoches, the Brookshire Brothers Freedom Fest presented by Metro PCS will take place south of the downtown square from 5:30p.m to 9:30p.m. Festival Plaza will offer a fun children’s area, full of food and drink vendors, a petting zoo, slides, a dunk booth and tricycle races.

An amazing fireworks display will begin 30 minutes after dark, presented by Nacogdoches Jaycee’s.

Guests are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets, and although coolers or picnic baskets are welcome, but glass bottles and alcoholic beverages prohibited. The best part is…admission is free!

Other great locations around town to view the fireworks are at University Mall, Williamsburg Plaza, Downtown Square, Nacogdoches County Courthouse, Brookshire Brothers on South Street and the Hotel Fredonia.
