Woman Wakes From Coma, Can’t Remember Wreck Nor How She Got Pregnant

I don't think I've ever heard of a true story with so many twist and turns in its emotional plot.  Let's start by going back 3 months in time. 

Gemma Holmes was riding her scooter on a street in England when she hit a car.  The force of the impact sent her flying into a lamp post.  She suffered a broken back and severe head trauma as a result.  She went into a coma and doctors thought she would not live.

While in the hospital, doctors found Holmes to be pregnant, so they asked her mom if she would like to terminate pregnancy.  Her mom said no, she just had a feeling that her daughter would wake up from her coma, and at that point Gemma could make her own decision.

3 months after the accident, Holmes woke from her coma.  She had no memory from the past 3 years which meant she had no idea who the father of her child was, and no man was stepping forward.  Doctors advised her that given her condition she should probably abort since having the baby could mean she would never walk again.  But, she valued the life inside her and continued with the pregnancy.

Now, current day, she has given birth to a healthy baby boy.  Holmes will now have to undergo a series of painful surgeries in which her back will be re-broken and plates installed.  If all goes to plan, she could be able to walk again in 2-3 years.
