Teenagers Win Big Checks at Fall Shoot Out at Lake Sam Rayburn
The Big Bass Splash Fall Shootout presented by Sealy Outdoors is in the books. $200,000 in cash and prizes were given to anglers at the two-day fishing tournament on Lake Sam Rayburn.
Top Five Overall
John Ellender caught two monster fish within 15 minutes of each other before the first weigh-in hour was done. His 9.31-pound bass won the first hour of the tournament on Saturday and it held on to win the top spot overall.
That includes an overall grand prize of a Phoenix 919 Pro XP powered by Mercury and equipped with Minn Kota, Humminbird, Navionics, and Power Pole, valued at $70,000.
Ellender would also win another hour on Saturday with a fish that weighed over 7 pounds.
Teenagers Showing Out
Tanner Richards of Houston, who won 5th overall with his fish that weighed 8.45 pounds, is just 14 years old.
Zane Parker is a 19-year-old fishing phenom who is originally from Kingwood, Texas, but now lives on Lake Sam Rayburn picked up several big checks at the Fall Shoot Out. He won 2nd place during one of the hours on Saturday, then, on Sunday, he finished first in two separate hours.
Then, during the final weigh-in hour on Sunday, Parker won $2500 when he weighed in an even weight 4.00 bass.
