Gold medals aren't really made of gold. They're made of sweat, determination, and a hard-to-find alloy called guts.- Dan Gable

7 year old Austyn Peacock of Bryan, Texas embodies this statement.    This young barrel racer recently placed number 5 in the world at an event in Colorado, but she has her sights set much higher...all this with something that many would call a handicap, but Austyn would call an opportunity.  Peacock was born with only one arm, but that hasn't slowed her down one bit.  She started out taking dance lessons, but about the time she turned five she asked her parents if she could try riding a horse in barrel racing...and she's never looked back.

Recently, the Bryan City Council proclaimed September 13th Austyn Peacock day, and while she was competing in Colorado, she was filmed in a music video which can be seen below.

Come on out and see Austyn this Saturday and Sunday at the George H Henderson Expo Center in Lufkin...she'll be competing in a youth rodeo there.
