A fire back in June damaged Ray's Drive-In West in Lufkin, and at that time the restaurant said it would not close its doors permanently.  But that has changed now.

Ray's Drive-In West on the Loop in Lufkin will close, but the original location on Timberland Drive will remain open.

One burger connoisseur that travels around Texas tasting burgers reviewed the Ray's burger back in 2008, and said it was one of the best he had tried, mostly because of the "ooze factor."  Texas Burger Guy said every time a restaurant uses one of those menus with the snap-in letters and numbers, the burgers turn out awesome!  Ray's has been in Lufkin since 1959 and has certainly gained a following.

Although the West location is shutting its doors, East Texas burger lovers will no doubt keep flocking to the original location on Timberland Drive.
