Alabama Forced to Cancel More Tour Dates Due to Randy Owen’s Ongoing Health Struggles
Alabama have been forced to cancel another set of shows due to lead singer Randy Owen's ongoing health issues.
The band issued a statement via their management company, Ontourage Management, that they are cancelling two shows this weekend.
The beloved country group was scheduled to perform at the State Fair of West Virginia in Lewisburg on Friday (Aug. 16) and at the PNG Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J., on Saturday (Aug. 17), but Owen has been told by doctors not to perform ,as he's currently being treated for spells of migraines and vertigo. Jamey Johnson will now be performing in their place at the State Fair.
Randy Owen's Health Scare Forces Cancelations
"The band Alabama was looking forward to performing for the fans on the 50th Anniversary Tour and apologize for the inconvenience,” the group says in a statement.
The pair of canceled shows fall in line with a series of other recent shows — they called off four dates in July that included two stops in Canada, followed by shows in Columbus, Ga., and Bristol, Tenn. All dates have been part of the legendary group's 50th Anniversary Tour that sees acts ranging from Charlie Daniels and the Beach Boys to Scotty McCreery opening for them along a nearly year-long trek that began in January.
The anniversary tour is scheduled to wrap in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 20. The "Mountain Music" hitmakers will be inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame later this year and are also receiving the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award.
"Getting the first Lifetime Achievement Award and going in the Musicians Hall of Fame is very humbling. I am thankful to be a musician, a singer, a songwriter and for being able to make a living through touring and recording for the last 50 years," Owen says.
The induction ceremony will take place in Nashville on Oct. 22.
