Fans who have been following deep-voiced country crooner Caleb Lee Hutchinson on this season of American Idol likely noticed something different about the singer when he took the stage Sunday (April 15) for week two of American Idol’s top 24 rounds.

There's no mystery to his transformation: The 19-year-old decided to take control of his weight, and in between his initial audition and Sunday's performance, he managed to drop an amazing 70 pounds. You can see the transformation above in the video, and compare with what he looked like a month ago, below.

Hutchinson told host Ryan Seacrest there was no big secret to his success dropping the weight. “One day I was like, ‘Hey, wouldn’t it be cool if, like, I drank water and walked every night?" he noted.

Turns out, social media helped to keep him on track, too. Just like all of us, Hutchinson enjoyed seeing positive responses to the photos he shared. "The more the Instagram picture-likes went up, the more I wanted to hit the treadmill.’”

Hutchinson's extra weight didn't matter back when he initially auditioned, and losing it didn't change his overall assured, confident vibe. But it was hard to deny he had a special extra bit of oomph while performing Thomas Rhett’s “Die A Happy Man.”

Judge Katy Perry gave him a standing ovation for the huge achievement, while judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan stuck to raving over his huge voice. It's hard to say which deserves more fanfare!
