Tuesday morning, Denton Police released a statement indicating that a 20 year old man had been arrested in connection to the New Year's shooting death of a University of North Texas coed, Sara Mutschlechner.

Eric Jamal Johnson was taken into custody in Yuma, Arizona by U.S. Marshals who were serving the warrant issued by the Denton Police Department.  Authorities would not go so far as of yet to name Johnson as the man who fired the weapon.

Reports indicate that Mutschlechner was acting as a designated driver when she was shot in the head by someone in a dark-colored SUV.  Witnesses said that an argument broke between some of the occupants of those vehicles before shots were fired from the SUV.

Johnson is a corporal in the Marines and is based at a Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, where the warrant was served.

Mutschlechner is from Martindale, Texas and a graduate of San Marcos High School.  She was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority at North Texas.
