Brookshire Brothers Breaks Ground at New Huntington Location
In a little over a year from now, residents of Huntington and nearby areas will experience the doors opening of a brand new Brookshire Brothers grocery store in their community. The property will also feature a Tobacco Barn, convenience store, and fuel station.
The groundwork has already begun, but on Tuesday, Brookshire Brothers employee-owners, members of the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, and Huntington-area residents gathered for the official groundbreaking ceremony. Brookshire Brothers' newest commitment to the Huntington community will be located in the 800 block of US Highway 69, across from Jerry's Tire Shop and the Huntington Car Wash.
“Our customers in Huntington have been incredibly supportive of Brookshire Brothers for many years, and we’re very pleased that the opportunity has presented itself for us for us to build a new store for the community,” said Brookshire Brothers President and CEO John Alston. “Our company has had the good fortune to enhance and expand our operations significantly over the last several years, and it’s particularly gratifying to embark on this next phase of investment in Angelina County.”
The main grocery store will be approximately 37,000 square feet. It will house a full-service bakery and expanded hot deli, a seating area, the fresh meat market, and Brookshire Brothers Anywhere, the company’s premier grocery delivery and curbside pickup service. For additional convenience, Brookshire Brothers is adding a drive-through pharmacy.
This multi-million dollar investment in the community is expected to be open by the late fall of 2023.
“We have loved serving our customers in the heart of Huntington for the past several decades, but it was time for an upgrade,” said Public Relations & Corporate Responsibility Manager Melissa Crager. “The residents in Huntington deserve a beautiful, brand new facility where they can do their everyday shopping amongst the friendly faces they’ve come to know and love at our current location.”
The current store, located at 104 N. Main St., will remain open until the new store is completed.
